Things

Tomorrow is Munckin’s 1st Birthday. There are so many thoughts and feelings about the last year and how everything happened, how much has changed… Being my first child it’s been fascinating to watch him grow and develop.
We are currently staying with my Mum and Dad. Our bathroom is being completely gutted and re-done (hurrah!). Hubby has just come over after overseeing the first day with the builder in the house and apparently all is well so far. The plan is that all will be finished at the end of next week and we’re planning to move back in over the weekend. I am very much looking forward to it – the planning (and especially trip to the tile place) have been very exciting.
Nothing particularly special is planned for tomorrow. Hubby is on PhD leave for the fortnight so is spending a significant chuck of each day turning his brain to jelly and then being in a perfect position to talk jibberish to Munchkin. He actually seems to be making good progress in spite of the jelly-mush brain that results at the end of each day!!
I took pictures of recent experiments in making gluten free ‘english muffins’ (as the Americans would call them), but haven’t got them to hand so will have to blog about that another time.
The allotment is going well. We’ve had lovely charlotte potatoes (as well as some pentland javelin and some juliette but the charlottes are my favourites) and there’s a good crop of courgettes coming. The french beans aren’t doing so well and the peas were a complete non-starter. However we should get a good few runner beans (although they’re not doing as well as last year in spite of the fact that we planted more of them) and the second sowing of carrots seems to have yielded some plants.
Anyway, I am about to see a picture of the bathroom after the first day of demolition so I will report back!

Quiet Night In

Ok, so it’s not the same as before munchkin, but it’s not that different from 7.30pm onwards… He’s in bed asleep usually by 7.15 (I have read the next couple of chapters of his Children’s Bible and left the room probably 5-10 minutes before). This gives me a chance to bath/shower and then sort out dinner and do what I want. Hubby is away so I can start a marathon catchup of recorded episodes of Holby City (hurrah!). It’s the one thing we don’t really watch together – all the other stuff I record we watch in the evenings when we have a chance but these has been accumulating for ages because he’s not really fussed for it.
Anyway – I just heard the pinger so my lasagne is ready. TV is waiting… Bon Appetit!
