Grandad

And I forgot to mention that my Grandad had a hip replacement operation yesterday (it was supposed to be the day before but he was last on the list and got bumped to yesterday morning). Apparently there’s some kind of complication so he’s got another ‘exploratory’ procedure this afternoon to see what’s going on so prayers would be very much appreciated.

Lots of things

It’s all been a bit mad and difficult over the last month. I wasn’t able to get to France to my Godmother’s funeral. We have decided however, that the three of us will go to Ireland (where she and my uncle spent most of their life) for a memorial service in a few weeks. Thankfully it comes in the middle of a quiet period for us when hubby won’t be away except odd individual days. It’s been a nightmare finding out details and then deciding and organising (and we’re not quite there yet). Not least because of the mixed information about whether or not a child needs ID to travel to EIRE. I am currently going with the Ryanair information which states that a child under 16 travelling with parents carrying photo ID doesn’t require photo ID. Does anyone have any recent info about travelling between UK and EIRE with a baby who doesn’t have a passport?
Up to last weekend Hubby had a few weeks of stints away which were hard work – inevitably ending up with a somewhat stressy and tired moog with (thankfully mostly mildly) lupus affected joints and things at the end of it. Hubby is a star though and is always very understanding and helpful – offering to change nappies or entertain Munchkin even on returning from 4 nights away working very hard and after a long drive home.
The allotment is doing well although as always could do with much more attention! The purple sprouting is still just starting to really produce (we’ve had 3 lots so far over about 4 weeks but now it looks to be accelerating!) and we’ve got the final lot of kale for dinner tonight. We’ve got some lettuce seedlings to plant out, the broad beans are coming along nicely, and we’ve planted the first lot of shallots and a bit of garlic. The potatoes are busy chitting (sp?) and we need to get on with preparing the ground so we can plant them out. The shed is wonderful – we keep our boots, a couple of forks and a hoe in it so we don’t have to lug things from home all the time.
Munchkin hasn’t been well for some of this week and I have had my first real taste of tired/unhappy/clingy baby. I realise how lucky I am that he’s generally such a happy chap! He’s still not quite right and is more tired than usual but he seems to be getting better which is definitely a good thing.
My parents and brother&wife are coming for lunch on Sunday which will be lovely. The added bonus is that my Mum is bringing the main course so I just have to make something for pudding! I’m looking forward to seeing them all.
I’m also looking forward to being at our own church to celebrate Easter Morning.
