Making Sushi

I love Sushi. I really enjoy lots of Japanese food, actually. Yesterday was my first attempt at making my own sushi from scratch. It worked! and it was really tasty! I think it’d make a great packed lunch, and it’s really healthy too. :o )

Lots of things…

We had a fab holiday. It was *very* hot in parts, but it was lovely and relaxing. I even managed to practice a bit of French (although not having spent much time there for the last 6 years I can hardly say that I am fluent as I used to be).

The down side was that I manged to come back with a quite nasty tummy bug which knocked me out for a good bit of last week. I starved myself for 48 hours, lost half a stone, thought it was better but it wasn’t really properly gone. I feel a lot better now but still not quite 100%. Have now put back on the half a stone.
The good part about coming back was the written job offer from the University I have talked about. I am due to start in my new post tomorrow!!!! :) It’s all very exciting, and I will be telling you all about it.

I spent two days in stevenage at the IET at meetings. They were tiring but definitely good and useful in the sense of achieving things to do with promoting Engineering, etc.

Mike’s sister, her partner and son (aged 6) stayed with us on Friday & Saturday night and went to a wedding in between. It was lovely to see them even though it was only really at breakfast!! In between all that hubby and I did some shopping, gardening, watching TV together and even managed part of Saturday’s Jumbo Crossword. Definitely a good weekend.

Today is my Mum’s 60th Birthday. We are off out for lunch with Mum & Dad, Aunt’s & Uncle’s on Mum’s side, Grandad and My brother and his wife. It will be nice to see them all, and it’s a gorgeous day to be out for a pub lunch. Apparently it’s going to be 31 degrees C today (according to the BBC). This is the last of the Birthday/Anniversary celebrations. Probably a good thing really, as although it has been absolutely wonderful (starting with the Renewal of Vows, then holiday, etc. etc.), I think I have had a few too many rich meals out over the last few weeks, and the bug has made my stomach feel rather delicate.

Holidays!

I am in the middle of a big pile of ’stuff’ to be packed. We need to get it all done so that we can go to the pub to watch the match this afternoon with some friends. After that and a couple of pints, methinks that any further packing or organising would be less effective, hence doing it all beforehand. Could be a bit ambitious though as we have some errands to run in the mean time.

So the big trip is to somewhere near Bergerac in France. There are 14 of my family members going so it’s going to be quite a holiday! The reason for this big getting together is my mum’s 60th Birthday (which is actually in the middle of July) so there will be a big party next Saturday. I am really looking forward to it! Hubby is trying to convince me not to take so many books. He’s probably right, but my only plan for the week is to sit, relax and read. Hurrah!
